These protests are in accordance with the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza. Some of the religious groups in Pakistan are encouraging other people to boycott US and Israeli products.
However the political parties are not backing these protests or boycotts. The TLP has called for the boycott of Israeli protests but also has denied the involvement of attacks on the KFC outlets. According to the sources, a KFC employee, 45-year-old Asif Nawaz, has been killed outside the store.
The authorities in Lahore and other cities have increased the security around the KFC outlets after these incidents. The police are trying to arrest the people who are involved in these attacks that may be linked with religious groups.
Protests are still underway, and people are still boycotting the Israeli brands. Companies such as Yum Brands, KFC and others have not commented officially regarding these attacks. Anyhow, the Pakistanis are unhappy about the incidents and Israeli actions in Gaza.
The ongoing boycott has also affected popular brands like Coca-Cola and Pepsi in Pakistan. The market share of these brands has dropped significantly, and people are trying to buy the local alternatives.
