Bangladesh and Pakistan Resume Talks After 15 Years [Good Initiative or Not?]

Pakistan and Bangladesh have resumed talks with each other after 15 years. These talks are aiming to improve the relationship between the both countries. The interim leader of Bangladesh, named Muhammad Yunus, has started these talks and wants to strengthen the ties with Pakistan.

This change happened when the former prime minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, was removed from power and designation. During the tenure of Hasina, the main focus of Bangladesh was to build closer ties with India and the relationship between Pakistan became tense.

Talks Between Bangladesh and Pakistan

Both of the countries have started to build a strong relationship with each other and have resumed the direct trade talks. They are looking forward to easing the visa requirements for both. The next plan is to restart direct flights from Bangladesh to Pakistan.

Another major topic that is under debate in this discussion is the war of 1971. Bangladesh had gained independence during this year from Pakistan and also accused the Pakistani soldiers. These accused include the killing of people in Bangladesh and raping the thousands of women.

Bangladesh has requested Pakistan to give the compensation amount of $4.52 billion for the victims of the war. However these issues are historical but the both of the countries are still looking to work with each other. They can move forward in the areas of farming, trade and other sectors.
